Joshua Petrack, Ph.D. student in Applied Mathematics, has won the Best Student/Postdoc Poster Award at DNA31 in Lyon, France! His work, co-authored with Professor David Doty, introduces the first exact algorithm for simulating chemical reaction networks in sublinear time per reaction—a major leap in molecular programming.
Lauren Mossman, Ph.D. student in Applied Mathematics, has been awarded the prestigious Simons Dissertation Fellowship for her groundbreaking research on ecosystem dynamics and species interactions. We are excited to add Prof. Andrés Carvajal of the Department of Economics as the newest member of GGAM! Some of Prof. Carvajal's interests include pure economic theory, in particular general equilibrium theory. This field requires the application of careful mathematics to develop insight about the operation of markets.
